Encaustic Paintings

These paintings are made with pigmented, hot wax that I paint onto the surface with a variety of implements. It is a medium that I have dabbled in for some time but now I am seriously trying to work out my technique and create a large body of encaustic paintings. Encaustics are very very stable and have been used since the ancient Greeks used them to seal and decorate their ships. They have a luster and luminous quality that is hard to achieve in any other medium.
